Echoes of Existence: Three Lifetimes

Image
Today, I came across a captivating thought: a human experiences three distinct moments of passing. The first is when life departs the body, the second when their name is spokenfor the final time, and the third when their image is lost forever. Contemplating this concept led me to ponder the longevity of human existence. I found myself delving into the world of ancient art, specifically the oldest known paintings. In 2021, it was reported that 43,000-year-old cave paintings depicting humans were discovered in Indonesia, making them the most ancient of their kind. Yet, as I marveled at these ancient artworks, I realized that the individuals depicted in those cave paintings are, in a way, still living within those images. In my own backyard, the discovery of paintings dating back at least 5,000 years in Kilvalai, Tamil Nadu, offered a glimpse into the enduring power of art. With the advent of cloud storage and the internet, we have extended our third lifetime, preserving our i...

The Evolving Landscape of Cinema: A Shift in Quality and Content

In recent years, I have observed a considerable reduction in my frequency of movie-watching. From my perspective, the quality of films has experienced a notable decline over the last decade. There has been a discernible shift in focus, with an increasing emphasis on VFX effects and grandeur at the expense of compelling storytelling and well-crafted screenplays. Movies once served as a great means of entertainment and relaxation, but they have relinquished their premier status in the world of entertainment. The proliferation of OTT platforms and handheld screens has undeniably added to the challenges faced by traditional cinema. However, I firmly believe that this is not the primary reason for the decline of movies from their zenith. One of the significant fa...

A plea for unity

War, regardless of its origins or those who perpetrate it, remains a grievous affliction. Innocent lives are sacrificed, and this must cease. The moment I associate a specific country or religion with this statement, I risk being labeled as an advocate for a particular faith or nation. Yet, in my humble opinion, every life holds equal value, regardless of its origins or beliefs. Our planet offers ample space for all of us to live harmoniously side by side. Our task is to convey to individuals that they must keep their faith and beliefs personal. In a society shared by many, it becomes necessary to make sacrifices for the common good. Maintaining social cohesion transcends the significance of personal convictions and ideological propaganda. Those who manipulate and divide us through propaganda seek only to enrich themselves. Let us not permit further divisions among ourselves. All the inhabitants of our planet should unite as one, for recent events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, remind...
